South County Beaches
With 411 miles of shore line and many beautiful beaches, Rhode Island deserves the name the "Ocean State". Here's a list of some of the beaches located in the South County area:
 |
Narragansett
Next to the Narragansett Towers along the eastern shore is the Narragansett Town Beach. Slightly further south is the Scarborough State Beach. Along the south shore is the Captain Wheeler State Beach and the Salty Brine Beach at Galilee. Both of these beaches are within the Galilee breakwater and are especially good for children. |
 |
South Kingstown
Continuing south and entering into South Kingstown, you'll find the East Matunuck State Beach, over looking the Block Island Sound. To the west is the South Kingstown Town Beach, the Green Hill Beach and the Moonstone Town Beach. |
 |
Charlestown
Charlestown has East Beach, the Charlestown Town Beach and the Ninigret Conservation Area. The South County's only fresh water beaches are found at the Watchaug Pond in the Burlingame State Park. |
 |
Westerly
Westerly has four beaches including the Dunes Park Beach at the Weekapaug Breachway; Atlantic Beach in the Misquamicut Area; the Misquamicut State Beach and the Watch Hill Beach. The Watch Hill Beach is particularly nice although parking is extremely limited. |
